MODULE I : DIGITAL PUBLISHING

This module investigates design communication for mobile and e-publications, with an emphasis on developing creative modern concepts for defined target audiences. It covers strategic and practical sides of e-publishing using Adobe Digital Publishing Suite (DPS). It is designed to equip students with the skills required to create and publish interactive digital content for mobile and tablet devices. Students will learn methods by which traditional publishing content can be redesigned for various mobile and tablet device platforms targeting different audiences and further outreach. 

     

Module Objectives:

  • Learn about graphic design, design elements and principles.

  • Learn how to create professional mobile designs and layouts.

  • Learn the key principles of successful digital magazine publishing.

  • Learn about mobile publishing platforms – using Adobe Indesign to publish straight to smartphone/tablet/desktop.

  • Understanding user experience (UX) on touchscreen device.

  • Understand the process of managing, publishing, marketing and promoting digital content.

  • Design, plan and create content for digital publishing.

  • How typography affects graphic design

MODULE 2 : DIGITAL MEDIA PRINCIPLES & PRACTICES

This module sets the foundation in the theoretical and practical skills in digital media. It delves into the fundamentals of digital media and its impact on business and communications. Students will explore technical and aesthetic aspects of common tools used in the digital media industry. It is designed to give students an appreciation of strategic content development processes – a life­long skill employable to any media project encountered in their media careers. This module will introduce students to the principles of good design practices for designing websites. The student will be able to choose the most appropriate technologies to design applying the core design principles and develop a user centric website which includes interactive content. 

 

Module Objectives:

  • Critically analyze a website defining its objectives, concept, design, usability and information architecture.

  • To streamline the development process by converting wireframes into fully marked up, production quality web pages.

  • To present the finest web site design by integrating web design skills.

  • Learn which parts of web content are best presented in the format of video, audio, text, images or animation, and how to integrate and combine them into a website that is informative and engaging.

  • To combine new media technology skills with creative ability to produce a final design.

  • Photoshop for UX Design.

MODULE 3 : SOCIAL MEDIA MARKETING

This module aims to equip students with insightful and practical skills for working on social media platforms. It also introduces theoretical issues raised by digital media technologies, technological culture and the social media revolution. The module will provide strong foundations for students to be able to tackle any social media projectsin the future. 

Module Objectives:

  • Develop an understanding of social media from a practitioner’s standpoint.

  • Assess social media platforms in order to be able to identify the right platforms for a campaign to be executed on.

  • Understand social media strategies and principles to be able to critique existing social media campaigns.

  • Learn and apply key considerations in social media campaign execution.

  • Understand the importance of consumer data and how it can be utilized.

  • Learn practical steps to setting up social media destinations such as a Facebook Page, Twitter accounts, LinkedIn accounts, etc.

  • Understand the importance of campaign measurement and the measurement metrics that matter.

  • Introduction of PR as a Marketing Tool.

  • Explanation of what PR is, how it is used, and what results can be expected.

  • Explanation of the impact of the Internet and Social Media on PR and Marketing
